Ayurvedic Detox
Ayurveda defines health as not merely the absence of disease in the body. Health and wellbeing is ...

Let's jump straight in. Ayurveda defines health as not merely the absence of disease in the body. Health and wellbeing is “Samadosha, samagnischa samadhatumala kriyaha prasanna atmenindriya manaha swasthya ityabhidheeyate” which means it can only manifest for you if:

  1. Doshas (Vata, Pitta and Kapha) are in equilibrium
  2. Agni (digestive fire) is in a balanced state
  3. Dhatus (7 Body tissues described in Ayurvedic texts) and Malas (Waste) are in good working order
  4. Sensory, motor organs, mind, and atma (soul) are in a pleasant state

But our modern lifestyle of incorrect dietary habits, excessive workload, and lack of exercise leads to an accumulation of various toxins in the body.

Ayurveda aims to prevent disease and maintain good health, and in order to achieve this goal, it recommends the removal of these toxins from time to time by certain procedures. There are five primary detoxification procedures called Panchakarma, designed to restore the balance of the Doshas.

These five classical procedures not only remove physical toxins, but also restore body / mind balance, rejuvenate, increase vigour and vitality, improve digestion, improve immunity, reduce stress and slow down the aging process.

Panchakarma helps to clear the toxins from the entire system, balances doshas, heals digestive system, improves functioning of digestive fire, enhances immunity, reduces stress. More benefits of Panchakarma include improved skin lustre, anti-ageing and weight loss in case of overweight individuals.

If you need a simpler and gentler way to detoxify then consider the use of Triphala. It is a combination of three fruits, Amalaki, Haritaki and Bibhitaki and can be used at bed time daily to release toxins while you sleep. Additional benefits of Triphala - it is a mild laxative, improves digestion, helps to maintain healthy cholesterol levels, and improves eye sight.
